Vision mixer / Director (m/f/d)

In seconds, you decide which image millions of people see. For our live sports productions we are looking for a vision mixer who stays in control when things get tight.

Cologne Full-time immediate start

As a vision mixer / director you are responsible for the visual storytelling of our live broadcasts – from the Bundesliga conference to international equestrian events and multi-day marathon productions. You work closely with the director, vision engineers and camera operators in the OB truck and make your calls where there is no second chance: on air.

Your responsibilities

  • Vision mixing for national and international live productions
  • Preparing camera concepts together with production management
  • Briefing and leading the camera team before and during the broadcast
  • Close coordination with directing, graphics and replay
  • Quality assurance in collaboration with vision engineering

How we work

Small teams, short lines of communication, clear calls. We plan carefully so no one has to improvise on site – and when it does happen, the team sticks together. You are on the road for around 60 production days a year; the rest of the time you prepare in Cologne or take time off.

„The best cut is the one nobody notices. That is exactly why it is so damn hard.“
Toni Plößl, Head of Production – Best Boys

Your profile

  • At least three years of experience as a vision mixer / director in live production, ideally in sports
  • A confident sense of timing, visual language and dramaturgy under time pressure
  • Routine on common vision mixers (Sony, Grass Valley or comparable)
  • Calm and clear communication, even when the schedule falls apart
  • Willingness to work weekends and travel
  • Solid German and English, spoken and written; Class B driving licence

Your benefits

  • Permanent contract with fair pay and a transparent travel expense model
  • Productions people still talk about on Monday – from the Bundesliga to the CHIO
  • State-of-the-art UHD technology and an up-to-date OB truck fleet
  • Named contacts instead of anonymous scheduling
  • Training and manufacturer courses that we pay for
  • Company bike, Deutschlandticket and an office in Cologne with proper coffee
